What is a Top Gard Bollard Cap?

The Top Gard Bollard Caps are made with a proprietary concrete mix that is applied in a precast application. It is manufactured so that it is durable, aesthetically pleasing, and to save the contractor money during the installation of the bollards.

How does the Top Gard Bollard Cap save a contractor money during installation?

If the contractor is filling and traditionally capping bollards, the contractor will typically short-fill them as they fill up all the bollards on site, or they will leave a lump of concrete on top that they will later have to go back and finish. The contractor has to return to the bollard a second time after the concrete has been set up to try and complete a dome on top of the bollard. This adds a significant amount of time and causes a lot of cleanup on each bollard.

What is the estimated savings for using Top Gard Bollard Caps?

During the installation of the bollards up, you can save up to 50% on labor.

What size bollards are Top Gard Bollard Caps made for?

3” – 12” Bollards

Can you retrofit a Top Gard Bollard Cap on an old bollard?

Yes, use a bush hammer bit to break off the old dome and take the concrete down approximately 1/8” – ¼” inch below the top of the steel pipe. Clean all dust and concrete off of the surface. The Top Gard Bollard Cap can then be epoxied onto the top of the bollard.

What prep should be done before painting the Top Gard Bollard Caps?

The dirt and residue should be cleaned off the caps before painting. We recommend the caps be roughed up with medium grit sandpaper and then wiped down. Using medium grit sandpaper will help with the paint sticking to the cap surface.

How can I replace a Top Gard Bollard Cap that has been damaged?

Break off the cap using a rotary hammer and a bush hammer bit. Use a grinder with a metal cutting wheel to cut off the bolts. Clean out the top surface of concrete and epoxy on a new bollard cap. Use full PPE during any installation process of Top Gard bollard caps.
